Modern phones have got really quite good at doing augmented reality, which is where 3d models are super impossed into the real world.
You then view these through your smartphone and can see all sides of the object, what is really useful is being able to see how an object looks in situ and how big it is. All the models I produced were modelled from a series of photo graphs, not 3d scanned. They had to be fairly low detailed to be rendered by smartphone gpu’s but also good enough to be photo realistic.
